This interview with John Mayer is great. I’ve watched it so many times. He talks about the importance of singing improvised lyrics when playing the guitar, when trying to come up with a new song. Only then you’ll know if you’re onto something.

This might be farfetched, but I guess it’s somewhat like trying a startup idea in the market. The idea might seem like a good one, but you’ll have to try it in the market to know if you’re onto something.
